Flash Video MX above version 2.5.1 can generate an independent SWF or
SWF that can only play depending on the corresponding FLV. Both types
of file contain the same programming interfaces. These interface
functions allow you to control the player, such as the action to play,
pause, stop, seek, change the control bar' color and so on. Meanwhile,
they make it possible for your program to catch all sorts of events
with control bar, e.g. Cue Point Event, Event when clicking the play
button or stop button.
• Types of formats generated by Flash Video MX
Flash Video Mx generates two types of formats, which are independent from each other without influencing each other.
a) Independent SWF file
Features:
• Video is embeded in the SWF file
• Large file size
• Play independently without the reliance of other file
• Can utilize progressive download so as to watch when downloading.
• Integer frame rate
• Limit to 16000 frames (Even though Flash Video MX can generate SWF with more than 16000 frames, Flash Player cannot play the rest frames after the 16000th frame. Flash Video MX may inform you if your video is more than 16000 frames)
• Can seek to any frame within the 16000 frames
b) FLV file and SWF Player file that relies on corresponding FLV
Features:
• Video is saved as FLV file
• FLV file cannot be played by Flash Player directly, therefore the SWF Player file is needed
• Can utilize progressive download so as to watch when downloading.
• Floating-point frame rate
• No duration limit
• Only seek to keyframe
Type b is recommended in general condition.
• Programming interface
Both type a and type b support the same programming interface. There is a variable in the main scene of the video named thePlayer, which is an instance of the player object. The object supports the following methods and events:
