International Workers’ Day is a celebration of the international labor movement and left-wing movements. Though it is not that popular comparing to Christmas and Easter in the world, it is still a day to show our honor and respect to the workers. Generally speaking, International Workers’ Day is celebrated in most countries on May 1st.

1. The miserable life of workers: Modern Times

How was the life of workers in 1920s? Charles Chaplin, the most famous stars in the era of silent film, will present you the miserable life of the worker in the 1920s. The workers in the movie need to work for hours without stop and they only get a few minutes to finish their meals.

In the movie, the character acted by Charles Chaplin is trying to catch up with the speeding streamline. As he works slower, he will be cursed. Finally he is driven crazy by the machine. 2. The nightmare of workers: The Devil Wears Prada

It is the nightmare of every worker to meet a mean and harsh boss. In The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep successfully shows the world the image of a ruthless and merciless boss. In order to keep her reputation in the fashion field, she can betray her best employees. She calls every assistant “Emily” before she thinks the assistant deserves a name.

So the poor assistant, Andy in the movie needs to tolerate everything and works for such a boss. She needs to find the latest version of Harry Potter before it is released; she needs to book an air ticket in a few hours when there is none and she is not allowed to act against her boss’s will. Bobby Walker used to be a senior employee in a company named GTX Corporation. He is quite confident at his future in the beginning of his unemployment life. 4. The fighting of workers: The Pursuit of Happiness

Will Smith is always good at impressing us with his performance. In The Pursuit of Happiness, after forced to live out in the streets with his son, Will eagerly needs a steady work. When he gets one, he is trying his best to do it which leads to his success.

This movie is encouraging because it shows you the fighting and success of an ordinary worker. In the movie, Will is driven out of the renting house and forced to sleep in the toilet. However, he is quite confident to his future, that’s the secret of his success.

5. The counterattack of workers: Tower Heist

What first comes to your mind when you get to know a movie acted by Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy? The movie is definitely a comedy. However, it is not true in Tower Heist. Tower Heist is about a story how a group of workers begin their counterattack to the man named Arthur Shaw who has cheated their money.
