3 Methods To Help You Rip Audio From DVD

DVD is an optical disc storage format which offers higher storage capacity than compact disc while having the same dimensions. Among the five ways to access movies in general, we usually prefer to watch videos via DVD or YouTube.

Besides excellent plot and beautiful background music, classic movies can always impress us with lines like “I am the King of the World” in Titanic, one of the 100 famous movie quotes selected by AFI. Sometimes you just want to rip the audio of this quote from DVD and then play it with your iPod. This post will show you three methods to help you rip audio from DVD.

I. Sound Recorder

Actually, Windows XP system can always provide you recording function. The operation is quite simple.

1. Open the “Sound, Speech and Audio Devices” option in the “Control Panel” and then click “Sound and Audio Devices“.

2. Chose “Audio” tab and then click “Volume” button in “Sound recording” column.

3. Check “Select” in “CD Audio” column and then click “OK” button.

4. Click “Start” and then choose “Sound Recorder” in the drop-down menu of “Entertainment“. Play the video clip you want and record it with Sound Recorder.

5. After that, click “File” button and choose “Save” to save the audio.

With Sound Recorder, you can easily rip audio from DVD. However, you may be a little disappointed since the audio is too small in volume that you can barely hear.

II. KM Player

The development of media player has made it possible to play DVD without DVD Player. KM Player is a powerful player that can not only support videos of popular formats but also rip audio from DVD for you with just a few clicks.

1. Open KM Player and then import the video you want.

2. Right click the video and then choose “Capture” in the menu. Choose “Audio Capture” option in the drop-down menu of “Capture“.

3. Choose appropriate “Audio encoder” and “Compression Format” and then click “OK“.

You can get the audio in a simple way with KM Player. However, it seems that it can only rip the audio of the whole video which means it not only takes time but also brings you some unnecessary audio parts.

III. DVD Ripper

You can rip audio from DVD by merely converting the DVD to audio format with DVD Ripper. Do the following steps.

1. Click “File” and then choose “Load DVD” option to import the DVD you want.

2. Choose appropriate audio format in the drop-down menu of “Common Audio“.

3. Right click the DVD and then choose “Media Edit” option in the drop-down menu.

4. Click “Trim” tab and then trim the DVD part you want by changing values in “Start Time” and “End Time“. After that, click “OK” button and then click conversion icon.

In this way, you can easily rip the audio you want from the DVD and play it in your iPod.
